perfectly happy with cable
Are we the only household in America happy with cable?
We pay $200 per month, which isn't small change, but for that we get:
- lightning fast internet, always reliable
- about a gazillion TV channels, some of which we actually watch;
- ESPN and local cable sports (for us that is the Portland Timbers and Thorns soccer, Blazers, every Seahawks and Mariners and UO Ducks game);
- a DVR with the ability to record about 80 hours of TV, and the ability to set those recordings from anywhere with my iPad, and the ability to watch those recorded programs on my iPad or phone, anywhere in the world with wifi or if I've previously downloaded the recordings;
- thousands of instantly available movies, TV series, and shows;
- digital home phone with every add on;
- a home security system with a camera we can monitor from afar and a system we can arm and disarm from our smart phone;
- good customer service about which we've had no complaints.
Overall it seems like a pretty good value for what we're getting. My wife likes to watch TV. She would not be happy if we got rid of cable.
What is it about their cable packages that is causing so many Americans to 'cut the cord?'
