Roku TV without carrier?

Bogleheads • View forum - Personal Consumer Issues - www.bogleheads.org
I receive internet and landline service at home via Verizon and a Verizon router.

I'd like to watch TV at home, but have no need for any local or cable-type channels. If I buy a Roku TV, I believe I can watch Netflix, Amazon and Roku channels without needing a Verizon TV connection - just use the Verizon wireless signal via the router?

Does that sound right? does the TV pick up the wireless signal at home - no need for any special cabling or wiring? sorry don't know much about this.

Thanks
