Help with Investment Advice
First time poster but I have been following many helpful advice on the forum over the last two years. I need your expertise on how to properly manage my parents’ portfolio. They are both retired 63 years old. They currently have a total of $243,000. They consider themselves moderate investor in terms of risk tolerance. Ideally, they would like a portfolio that would generate about 5 to 6% a year without dipping into the principle. Below is a breakdown of their portfolio.
Account Fund Ticket Symbol Amount
Taxable Account Vanguard Total International Stock ETF VXUS $ 25,000
Vanguard Total Stock Market ETF VTI $ 25,000
IRA Vanguard Total Bond Market (Roth) VBTLX $ 29,000
Vanguard Total Bond Market (Traditional) VBTLX $ 30,000
CD Cash $ 134,000
Total $ 243,000
Questions for the group:
1. How should they allocate $134,000 they have in cash to get proper asset allocation/location and diversification? They already have a rainy day fund set aside.
2. How should they enter the market with a large sum of cash to get better dollar cost average? I know most of you do not advocate market timing.
I greatly appreciate your help!
